Turkey starts restoration works of Islamic heritage in Albania
Turkish officials completed the first stage of restoration works, started for Ottoman era- Monuments in Albania.
Turkish Cooperation and Development Administration (TIKA) has been carrying out the project, aiming to protect Turkish heritage in Albania.
The four experts from TIKA Presidency and Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism went to Albania for technical review and started to determine the works that is planned to be restored in 2009.
The delegation has reviewed a total of 16 mosques, mansions and the Turkish baths in 10 cities, including Tirana, Durres (Drach), Ishkodra, Elbasan, Gjirokastra (Ergiri), Peqin, Korca, Vlora, Berat and Kruja.
Albanian Muslim League and local authorities from the Institute of Historical Works accompanied the delegation and expressed their gratitude of the Albanian people and administrators for the restoration projects.
