Tirana: Socialist member of Albanian parliament for the Gurra region in the Mat County, Q. Minxhozi, made known yesterday to Albanian daily "Gazeta shqiptare" his decision to press charges against Hague ex-prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte. Minxhozi described Del Ponte's claims, for the existence, according to her, of an improvised clinic in the Gurra region, where supposedly Serbian soldiers were brought in and had their organs removed, as "absurdities", "pure fabrications" and "nonexistent facts".
"First of all I received a request from Gurra residents, who were deeply offended in regard to what Carla Del Ponte has written in her book as also with the various comments arising in the foreign press regarding her book.
Allow me to state in the name of the residents of Gurra that by no means, and under no circumstances, does there exist a single fact proving that Serbian soldiers or civilians have ever set foot in this area, or that anyone was brought in the area by force during the conflict in nearby Kosova in year 1999." - declared Albanian parliament member Minxhozi.
"As a member of parliament representing this very region, in front of such pressure, I decided to support the moral request of the residents and, in light of such libels, help them press charges in the Strasbourg Court against Carla Del Ponte, in order to protect the dignity of the residents of the region, and above all to protect the dignity of Albania and the Albanian nation in face of such false accusations." - Minxhozi said.
A resident of Gurra, Mat County, Albania shows
his astonishment to Del Ponte's accusations.Answering to the reporter questions regarding the chances of winning this legal action against the ex-prosecutor who brought Milosevic in Hague, Minxhozi stated that "First of all, Del Ponte's claims are absurdities, pure fabrications referring to nonexistent facts, and all of them have been met with contempt by the residents of Gurra.
Second, in the village there is not a single man buried there from any other Albanian regions outside Gurra itself, and certainly no Serbian soldiers or civilians. The experts may come and verify for themselves, and rest assured that they'll not find any graves whatsoever of anyone of the nearby Gurra regions, let alone of any foreigners.
Third, there has been, I repeat, no single Serbian soldier or civilian entering this region during the conflict in Kosova and this is attested by all residents.
Fourth, Del Ponte's speculations have been refuted since year 2004 from the group of prosecutors that inspected the Gurra region and from all investigations conducted, residence investigations, questionings and testimonies they arrived at these definite conclusions.
According to Minxhozi a group of lawyers is working on the case to be presented to the Strasbourg Court in due time.
