28 February 2008 Tirana — Albania's Council of Ministers approved Wednesday a bill on the privatisation of the distribution branch of Albania's power utility, KESH. The bill, devised with the assistance of the World Bank, is expected to be ratified by Parliament swiftly.

TIRANA, Sept 29 (Reuters) - The Czech power utility CEZ CEZsp.PR offered 102 million euros on Monday to win a 76 percent stake in Albania's power distributor DSO after Albania found Italy's ENEL technical bid insufficient. CEZ and ENEL had hours earlier submitted technical and financial bids to a government commission that was to evaluate their technical offers first. Austria's EVN and Energie Steirmark had withdrawn.

Czech power group CEZ CEZPsp. has signed with Albania's government to buy a 76 percent stake in the country's power distributor DSO. CEZ had offered 102 million euros ($129.4 million) for the stake in September and the transaction is expected to be concluded in the coming months. DSO supplies 5.3 terawatt hours of power annually.
